Orlando Vacation

An Orlando vacation can involve various activities, but the most popular attractions are certainly the theme parks although it has a great deal more to offer. Orlando also has the famous International Drive which houses a huge number of attractions, shopping areas and water parks; all within a reasonable walking distance if you want a rest from driving. Whilst many people that visit are first timers, more are returning for their second, third or more time as there is always something new to see.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as Orlando area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. The city has its own charming identity and attractions but the majority of people taking an Orlando vacation arrive here in order to visit possibly the happiest place on earth.

To start, there is the Central Florida Zoo which draws huge crowds all year round and has over four hundred animals there although it is was only granted this status in 1975. Even though it is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention of providing classes for children and protecting species that are only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.

You may have heard of the name Tiffany's but did you know that it was way back in 1942 that the Morse Museum in Winter Park that started displaying the collections of Louis Tiffany. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.

Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children because adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town. Vibrant Night life is also popular on vacations to Orlando with music and dance available at some of the favorite venues which include Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island, Universal City walk, and other clubs.

If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the 1920s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.

If you have seen the Titanic-ship of Dreams film then you will enjoy the exhibition along International Drive that tells the story using large sets and depictions from the ship as a background. A quieter more relaxing time can be found within the grounds of Lake Eola Park where you can enjoy over forty three acres of wonderful parkland which includes a boating lake for the more energetic.

Not all theme parks in Orlando are based purely on rides as the fantastic Seaworld will attest but if you want rides then you have the Disney resort theme parks and Universal studios too. Everyone that takes a vacation in Orlando wants to return and experience more of the attractions it has to offer.
